Paddle the Historic Northwest Arm & Seal Cove. Enjoy views of Halifax Skyline to the north, Hangman’s Beach Lighthouse & the open Atlantic to the south as we paddle to McNabs Island.
We arrive on McNabs Island on an isolated beach featuring a few shipwrecks & enjoy expansive views before a short hike to historic Fort Ives. Occasionally, we meet with the lone remaining (human) resident on the island. Explore the remnants of the fort & enjoy views of Halifax Harbour, Point Pleasant Park & our rugged coastline.
Before heading back to the peninsula, we’ll enjoy a picnic on the beach (feel free to swim) & have an up close & personal experience with marine life on & below the pier.
Animal encounters may include sandpipers, endangered piping plovers, osprey, blue heron, bald eagles, whitetail deer, fox, snowshoe hare, seals, harbour porpoise or even whales.
